About Shawn Graham
I am a Registered Professional Archaeologist in North America, and a Member of the Institute for Archaeologists (formerly, Institute of Field Archaeologists) in the UK.
My archaeological work is with the British School at Rome, the University of Manitoba, Cambridge University (I am, amongst other things, a specialist in Roman stamped brick), and the National Capital Commission in Ottawa (Heritage Inventory of Gatineau Park – I was recently interviewed by CBC Radio Ottawa about some of this work). I was the first Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Roman Archaeology at the University of Manitoba. I earned my PhD from the University of Reading in 2002 (in 2003/4 I played in the Men’s South of England Lacrosse League for the Reading Wildcats. Go Wildcats go!)
The blog part of this website concerns my interest in digital media for teaching, learning, and research in history and archaeology; other parts contain Netlogo agent based simulations of various aspects of Roman history and archaeology (part of my post doc research), and some of my experiments in historical scenario-building for commercial games. I’m always happy to chat with students, colleagues, or interested lay-people on any of these topics, so if you have any questions please do drop me a line!
I can be reached in my office at 920-626-4503, or via email. In Second Life, I’m Canadensis Yellowjacket.
